FCP Live-In was proud to do a “Lunch and Learn” presentation of FCP Live-In’s services to the Apple Rehab-Wolcott Hall Nursing Center, in Torrington, CT!
FCP Live-In home care’s Assistance Coordinator, Kelley Green, provided an informative Lunch & Learn presentation to the professional staff at Apple Rehab-Wolcott Hall Nursing Center, in Torrington, Connecticut. Wolcott Hall is located on picturesque grounds in the historic town of Torrington, CT, and provides a safe, warm, and comfortable atmosphere for residents requiring skilled nursing and/or rehabilitative care. While their focus is on short-term rehabilitation, they also provide care for injury-related illnesses and complex medical conditions, including post-surgical, hospice-related care, and long-term care.
While enjoying a tasty lunch, Kelley provided information about the specialized services FCP Live-in home care provides and engaged the group in discussions about how FCP Live-in professional caregivers can help reduce the amount of frequent recurring admissions to the hospital and their skilled nursing and rehab center.
Kelley identified several common reasons why patients are readmitted and discussed how FCP Live-in’s caregivers could help by;
- Minimizing falls by providing ambulation and transfer assistance
- Prevent malnutrition and dehydration by preparing and serving tasty and nutritious meals
- Avoid serious medical complications by clients not taking medications as prescribed with medication reminders
- Prevent infections such as UTI’s with assistance given to maintain good hygiene
- Minimize exposure to illnesses such as Covid-19, RSV and flu
It was also discussed that along with all of the care assistance provided with ADLs (activities of daily living), caregivers basically do everything needed to maintain client homes by completing everyday household chores and tasks such as cooking, light housekeeping, laundry, and much more.
Kelley explained that there are more than 1,000 homecare agencies in CT and why FCP Live-in is the best choice when someone needs care. She explained how FCP Live-in is personally invested in ensuring the client is matched with the best possible caregiver and, most importantly, is thoughtfully selected to match the person’s personality, making sure that the client and caregiver get along, have similar interests, and like each other.
A special thank you to Director of Nursing Caryn Pastorello and Social Worker Jackie DiCandia for coordinating the event and allowing FCP Live-In to present its services to their team.
