FCP Live-In Care Coordinator Michelle DiStefano was honored to be the guest speaker at the Lebanon, New Hampshire Rotary Club at the Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital campus in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Michelle educated thirty-plus members on how FCP Live-In care services can help seniors and answered questions like “What are the benefits of using FCP Live-In vs moving to Assisted Living?” Michelle answered that with FCP Live-In, you get to “Age In Place” and can remain in your own home. An FCP Live-In client will receive 1-on-1 attention from a certified and experienced caregiver who cooks the client’s favorite meals, does light housekeeping, and assists the client with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, medication reminders, and provides companionship to help the client do the things the clients like to do safely and with compassion. Clients can also keep their beloved pets.

However, if someone moves into an assisted living facility, they will likely have to sell their home and personal belongings, rehome their pets, and eat whatever is on the menu at the facility. They would be one of many others being cared for by a small staff and will likely have to wait for their needs to be met. They would not receive 1-on-1 attention at an Assisted Living Facility.

Another question was, “What are the qualifications of your caregivers?” Michelle responded that FCP Live-In caregivers are all Certified as either PCAs, HHAs, or CNAs. They have at least 2 years of experience caring for others in a home or facility. FCP Live-In caregivers are bonded and insured, and FCP Live-In conducts statewide and national background checks on all its caregivers. FCP Live-In provides orientation and training to make sure they are skilled at using any equipment that may be used to care for their clients safely. FCP Live-In also has field supervisors who monitor each case and support the caregivers and families to ensure everyone’s needs are met and everyone is happy.

After the Q&A, Michelle was presented with a book called “A Walk in the Woods,” about a boy whose father had recently passed away. They asked Michelle to sign the book, which was dedicated to Michelle and will be donated to the local library.
